She has been counseling since 2006 and has attended specialized training for survivors of trauma. Valerie was honored to be a member of the mental health Mobile Crisis unit for the Des Moines Police Department and surrounding communities. She has additional education in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and will use these proven techniques to help you overcome your challenges and take back your life. Valerie’s passion of working with adult survivors of childhood trauma has led to her becoming trained specifically in the journey of healing and recovery.
She is a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists as well as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist (CCH) in the state of Iowa. She had worked in the forensic mental health field for five years prior to private practice. Valerie published her book PTSD and Trauma-Informed Mindfulness Scripts in 2021. It remained the #1 new release in Educational Counseling for five days.
