John McDonald, LISW
He, him, his
I am interested in meeting you where you are at on life’s journey and providing support and guidance to help you get from feeling stuck to being on the track you want to be on. I do not take lightly my position as helper with your personal life and admire the courage it takes to seek help. My approach is one of acceptance of your whole person and I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, and trauma-informed techniques (including eye movements desensitization and reprocessing). The typical client I see is anywhere from older childhood (developmental age of 8) through adulthood. With children, I find that working with parents to provide support is often essential. As a clinical social worker, I am open and accepting of diversity. Some of the clinical issues that I have expertise in working with include perfectionism/procrastination, social difficulties, internet/gaming addiction, anxiety, trauma, and with individuals who have experienced adverse life events.
