As a LMHC, I strive to provide compassion, a safe therapeutic environment, and potential for creating clearer pathways for clients to grow and heal. Through personal connection and understanding, clients can grow and stretch themselves to find greater confidence and a stronger sense of self.
I support adolescents (16+) and adults with issues that affect their daily lives. Depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, codependency, grief/loss, adjustment difficulties, stress management, difficulties with emotional regulation, women’s issues, and relationship and family issues.
My goal as a counselor is to accept clients where they are and to help them to better understand themselves in order to move forward. I encourage my clients to be active participants in therapy and to be open to engaging in the process of change. My aim is to always stay humble and allow clients to be empowered, grow, and take action.
My approach to therapy is person centered and strengths based. I believe that each individual is unique and therefore I tailor my approach to my clients specific needs applying my experience, education, and insight to the therapeutic process. I believe in utilizing evidence based treatments. A few of the methods I use are cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, solution-focused, and mindfulness based practices. I am available to provide in-person and telehealth sessions.
I earned my undergraduate degree from University of Northern Iowa and my Masters of Science in Education degree in Mental Health Counseling from Buena Vista University. My clients tell me that they appreciate my direct and compassionate style, and adolescents tell me they appreciate my sense of humor.
Monday through Wednesday I like to see clients in the office and I provide telehealth sessions on Thursdays.
