As most parents have heard, it takes a village to raise children. I would appreciate the opportunity to take part in assisting you in this process by providing a healthy and therapeutic environment that strives to promote growth and healing in your children. People of all ages experience hardships, anxiety, hyperactivity, and adversity. So, my goal is to help children ages 4-17 navigate the changes and challenges of life.
I have experience working with children and adolescents who face challenges including (but not limited to) defiance and disturbing conduct, angry emotions, impulsivity, hyperactivity, anxiety, negative self-talk and inadequate self-esteem, depression, social anxiety, family relationship concerns, grief, Reactive Attachment, and trauma. In working with children, I use aspects of various modalities, approaches, techniques: play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths-based approach, motivational interviewing, and family therapy. I also enjoy utilizing art as a way to engage clients in processing their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
I received my Bachelor of Arts with a major in Social Work from University of Northern Iowa. After receiving my undergraduate degree, I attended Graduate School at UNI as well. Once I obtained my Master’s of Social Work degree with a specialization in Trauma-Informed Care, I began my career as a Mental Health Therapist. I have known for quite some time that I wanted a career in the helping profession because I have always sought to help others through listening, kindness, problem-solving, maintaining positivity, and meeting individuals where they are at.
I look forward to working with and meeting you!
