Nicole believes that the therapeutic process begins with building a trusting and caring relationship, while providing a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment to challenge, and provide feedback to those looking to better manage life's stressors. The therapeutic approaches she uses are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Her passion in therapy is to work with ages 14 and older to facilitate skill building and provide guidance to overcome past experiences so that they can live their best life.
Nicole graduated with a Masters degree in clinical mental health counseling from Adams State University. She has a Bachelor's degree in Family Services which allowed her to work with families in their homes to provide education and guidance on behavioral and developmental growth. Nicole has training in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which are therapy modalities focused on treating trauma. She has experience using these therapy modalities with adolescent females who are survivors of sexual abuse. Nicole also has experience in utilizing STEPPS (Systems Training for Emotional Predictability and Problem Solving) with clients to help them identify and challenge their negative thought distortions, while providing skills to better manage emotions and behaviors.
